It was a good day for me today. My supervisor came for my 2nd observation. He was impressed with my lesson. He likes it a lot. In fact, he's trying to push my grades to a distinction. UNFORTUNATELY, my CT is not supporting me. He doesn't think that I deserve a distinction. I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed. I mean, I feel that if I were given the opportunity to practice GCA for the past 6-7 weeks instead of the Sports Ed Model, then a distinction is definitely mine. Just because my CT thinks that the GCA sucks, I am being deprived of the distinction? Doesn't make sense right? Oh well, I guess life isn't fair. No point sulking or complaining about it. Nothing much I can do if my CT doesn't endorse it.
As for yesterday, it was unbelievable. I attended the National Schools Cross Country held at Turf City. It was beautiful!!!! I mean the atmosphere was fantastic. Supporters from elite schools like Victoria, Raffles, Hwa Chong families were down by truck loads. It's that identity that they forge for themselves that's unbelievable. However, I'm proud to say that I am doing my practicum at AISS. The B Division girls came in 4th team overall. A fantastic feat considering that it's ALWAYS the elite schools dominating over the past years. Ever since my time in school, it's always the same old school. It's good to see neighbourhood schools succeeding. A number of our students got injured as well. One C Division girl fainted while running halfway. Another (Irni) was dehydrated and fainted upon completion. As Mr Rauf attended to Alex (the one that fainted halfway), the C Div girls and myself were making sure that Irni was alright. I was afraid that she had heat stroke. We carried her up, applied ice on her head to bring down the heat. Slowly give her water and she's alright after 30 min. Weiwen came in first for the C Div girls. Our C Boys didn't do too well. The B Boys did fantastic too. One sec 5 boy came in 21st. He just missed out on an individual medal. I feel for him. All the boys had no injury problems. It was the girls that had injuries. Sprained ankles and heat stroke.
In general, I am impressed with Mr Rauf. One man show producing results. Hats off to him.

It's been a while now.....6 or 7 weeks
My Practicum's almost over. Not too sure where I'll be posted for my final posting. Ahmad Ibrahim Sec Sch has been good so far. I have not had much difficulty. Only EL lessons. My EL class 2E4 is a super active class. Can't quite believe that they are an express class. Ha ha. There are different cliques in the class. We have the "sorority gals" consisting of Feon, Eileen, Sandi, Cheryl and Weiwen. We have the "jocks" led by Tobias, Jason Lim and Izmil. And the UG's scouts, NCC, St John's etc. Anyway, they are a nice bunch of students. Just very active.
As for my PE classes, I teach sec 1s, 3s and 4s. I'm doing Frisbee for sec 3 and Floorball for sec 4. My first observation was alright. Mr Ravi dropped by to see me teach 4E3 floorball. I'm pretty happy with it. He's coming again this Thursday....observing me teaching Frisbee to 3T2. It will be one hell of a lesson. Ha ha. Oh ya, a boy from 3T2 dislocated his elbow during my Fitness class. He's dislocated that particular elbow 4 times so it gave way eventhough he (Husaini) was following procedure.
Other than that, everything's going pretty ok. Rapport with 2E4 has been fantastic. I just wish they would listen to me sometimes. It can be quite difficult to get their attention.
School and work aside, I'm looking for a house. Around Sembawang or Admiralty area would be good. I'm still waiting for my selection date from HDB. Hopefully can get one of the 5 room flats. I took a look at the executive flats, too costly for now I think. Don't think I can sustain it. After all I'm only starting my career. Well, that's all for now. Tired...
