My weekend...

I didn't do much on Friday. I was simply too tired. Had department lunch at Seoul Garden at Causeway Point. I came late cause of Friday prayers. I wasn't even full yet but since everyone else had to leave, I decided to stop eating. Buffets are meant for a group of people to eat and chit chat. It's just so different when you go eat buffet with colleagues.

I went to JB on Saturday with my mum and dear. We went to Arab Street to look for cloth before that. Went to JB hungry. At least it wasn't raining when we got to JB. Walked around City Square hoping to buy stuff. Nothing that I liked though. Had dinner at Kenny Rogers. The chicken's a bit dry though.

Went to the gym this morning...about 9.30am. Got home, watched tv for a bit and then took a long nap...2 and a half hours. Then went to Bishan Park to play a bit of soccer. I didn't run much though. It was a pretty much social soccer. Almost walking pace. I'm happy with this kind of pace. Now, time to do some work for the Speak Good English Month. Duh....

Back from camp...

Here's a long one...

Day 1 - 25th July 2007
I got to school in the morning as usual. The weather didn't look kind at all. My only concern was the weather. What's going to happen to all the activities planned if there was heavy downpour? After all, it's been consistently raining for the past 1 week or so. Will my students be deprived of the activities? Let's hope not.
I wasn't actually looking forward to going for the camp (because of the weather). I love going for camps when the weather is good. Camping is never fun when it's raining all the time. Furthermore, it's only recently (2 weeks ago) that I went for the sec 2 NYAA Adventure Camp. At the same time, I'm looking forward to stepping into Pulau Ubin for the very first time of my life. It seems like all of my friends said that it's pretty fun camping in Pulau Ubin.

As we boarded the bus, I could see some of the students' faces looking so uninterested in the trip. It was meant to be a fun and enjoyable trip. Let's face it..."studying" outside is ALWAYS better than inside a classroom. We had to get to Changi Jetty to catch the bum boats to Pulau Ubin. The boat ride was cool. It was literally cooling with bits of water splashing into the boat. I'm pretty sure that if the boat ride was longer than that 10 minutes, some of the students would be sea sick. One incident that I didn't quite like though is the foul language used by the students. I don't get it, why do they need to use vulgarities in their conversation? I question myself...is this the type of language they use at home? I doubt so.....then why is there a need to use vulgarities when talking to their friends?

The moment we got there, we headed towards Jelutong Campsite. It's only about 5 minutes walking distance from the jetty. Everyone started pitching their tents. I see LOTS of groupwork and cooperation be it in groups or in pairs. I guess in life, it is necessary to work hand in hand to accomplish a project. It's also good to see students asking teachers for help (while pitching their tents). If in doubt, always ask. I hope they will apply this to their classroom and every day life. When in doubt, always ask.

Once the tents are up, we proceeded with our first activity - team bonding game. It sure was fun. Most of the students in my team worked together to figure out the puzzle (they had to form a perfect square with awkward shapes). Obviously it wasn't as easy as some of them thought it was. Being over confident doesn't help. Even in real life, we need to analyze the situation first. The second part of the bonding activity was much better. Even though they had difficulty remembering how to place the awkward shapes, it was at least strategically planned out by the teams e.g. you put the triangle on the top right corner etc.

After lunch was the fun part. Everyone (teachers and students) had the opportunity to rent a bicycle. We all rode to Chek Jawa for the land expedition. There wasn't much cohesiveness in my team, unfortunately. The better ones (in terms of cycling) would cycle was ahead leaving the less competent cyclist lagging behind. Where is the care and concern for one another? I feel that care and concern for one another is lacking. I made it a point to tell them to cycle together on their way back.

Our trip in Chek Jawa took a pause as there was lighting risk alert between 1505hours to 1600hours. I got the SMS and quickly hurried the few groups that were there to take shelter. Once the weather cleared up, we proceed with our boardwalk. They took lots of pictures together. I saw a bit of bonding there. They looked genuinely happy and interested while looking out for sea animals/creatures as they walked along the boardwalk.

I do have to comment the teamwork when they cycled back to base camp. This time round, the team did wait for one another. It was much better (though it can still be improved). Some managed to instill confident to their team members, especially when they had difficulty cycling downhill.

I'm grateful that there were no casualties in my group. We returned to base camp for dinner. Students were cooking for one another (but none cooked for me). None cooked for me...I wonder if my ex-students would have cooked for me. I'm pretty sure my ex-students would. It's at times like this that I miss my ex-students. Anyway, I just had crackers for dinner. I'm good going without food as long as I have water. It's only for one day anyway. Some were cooking together (boys and girls) but they had to come out to a common area as the campsite was divided between boys side and girls side.

They had Candle War game at night. Looked pretty fun....but I didn't quite like the lack of integrity in some of them. Some cheated just so they can win...that's so silly. They really need to understand that cheating will hurt them eventually. You may not be caught once, twice but eventually you will. It doesn't pay. After the Candle War, it was time to wash up and zzzzz.

Day 2
Students were supposed to be up and cooking their breakfast by 7am. We proceeded with a short walk to Noordin Beach. Nice quiet, tiny beach. I was bitten by tons of mosquitoes on our way there. I'm still itching from it now. The trip to the beach was nice I felt. Even though some of them were irritating one another, they looked like they had fun. Oh...I forgot to tell you that 3 students from my group decided to fall out. And then there were 7. We made one wrong turn and yet they put the blame on one person. That's so silly especially when THEY were given the task that they should plan the route together. When a person leads and you just follow blindly, then you have no right to put the blame on that person...after all, you did not even say anything when you went the wrong way. I'm glad that they really thought about what and how Noordin Beach can be developed into an eco-tourist area for the near future.

Oh ya....MY group had the opportunity to taste FRESH durian. You can't get any fresher than that because we came across a durian in the middle of the road. I am positively sure that the durian had just fell from the tree. It was slightly cracked open (impact from falling at great height). They had the opportunity to taste FRESH durian. I took a bite myself. I personally don't like durian but I don't mind tasting it. It's such a waste of opportunity to not taste it when it is right in front of you. How often can you taste a durian that just dropped from the tree...probably not ever. I'm glad that it was my group who had this opportunity.

They had lunch the back in base camp after that and a short debrief and reflection session. I haven't read what they've written yet. We all got back in school by 1545hours. End of trip.

End of post. Very tired. Eat and zzzz...

Beginning of the week....

What a weekend. Tiring weekend. Last Friday night, I think I watched the silliest movie EVER!!! I watched "Black Sheep". I can't believe that I actually went to watch such a silly movie. Thank god I didn't pay for the movies. Rina and Agus gave us (my girlfriend and I) a pair of complimentary tickets to be redeemed at any Cathay cinemas. And of all movies, we went to The Cathay to watch Black Sheep. Obviously we wanted to watch Harry Potter but tickets were sold out. So we opt for Black Sheep. Geeezzzz......I still can't believe I watched it.

On Saturday, we went to Velocity to walk around. Just checking out the goods there. I found my long tights finally. I haven't bought it yet....not sure how much it cost. Will buy it soon when I have $$$$.

I went for the Mizuno Wave Run on Sunday morning. This year's 10km run was held from Temasek Poly to Bedok Reservoir. Short run but the wet weather didn't help. I took about an hour. Pathetic. Now my left calf aching. Cold wet morning. Pissed off with Ryan as well, cause he told me on Saturday that he left the number tags in school. Duh...and he couldn't get it back. SO I ran without the number tags and couldn't claim my goodie bag. The goodie bag is a shoe bag with one Mizuno running top inside. Well, at least I didn't waste my $20 (Ryan said I didn't have to pay him back). haha. Morning exercise.

Today, I went to accompany the boys for the soccer match at Siglap Sec. We drew 3 all with ACS Barker. Silly game. One idiot shouted vulgarities on the pitch and was sent off. Idiot. Only in the first 10 minutes, we were down with 10 men. I have no doubt that we could have easily won with 11 men. Furthermore, 2 of my first team defenders were not around (1 had to go NCC camp, the other was absent from school). Sigh....the team has no discipline.

Another shit coming my way as well. I'm going for the sec 3NT integrated program camp this Wed and Thursday. Shit...I'm so tired and stoll have to go for Pulau Ubin camp. Sleep in tents and let the mosquitoes feed on me. Damn it. So not looking forward to this.

Anyway, time for dinner now.

Great....my passion for soccer is back...

I just got back from my C boys game today. We had a difficult opponent....Greenview Sec. Even though we lost (3 -1) I think the boys did great. I mean, a few errors in the first half pissed me off. Especially when we dominated the game. At least the game ignited my passion for soccer again. I think when anyone is off the game for too long, somehow the passion just dies off. Maybe it's not just anyone...maybe it's just me. I mean, I haven't been off the game for such a long time. Even when I was in Sydney, I still had my weekly kick about sessions with my mates. It also doesn't help when the team doesn't really "belong" to you. I'm in a way, sort of an assistant. It's Philip who has build the team from the beginning of the year. I don't have a sense of belonging to the team. Sigh...when can I have MY own team.

Got school at 7am, left school at 7pm. This is too much. And they have training on Saturday as well. I'm not going.....I don't care. I just want to relax on Saturday. Sunday morning go for the Mizuno Run and chill out for the rest of the day. Go for an easy run. No rush....hmm...where's the route ya? Temasek Poly and around Bedok Reservoir if I'm not wrong. Ahh....don't care. Anywhere also can. Haven't done much cardiovascular exercise for sometime. haha. Don't want to struggle to complete it. haha. I shouldn't have played badminton yesterday. My right hamstring aching now. I should have stretched properly before I played. Old body....hurting at where the hamstring tore...old injury. Sh|t.........

Anyway, very tired now....watch tv and chill out...

I'm sooooo frustrated and disappointed!!!!!!! Damn IT!!!!!!!!

Damn it!!! I was so looking forward to going for the nationals track and field meet. SH|T!!!!!!!!!! Now I can't go simply because I have staff meeting. !@#$%^&* This is so frustrating. It just seems that my interest in soccer is waning and I'm more interested in track and field now. It doesn't help that I'm not playing soccer because of my injury.

Why of all days does the staff meeting be held tomorrow!!!! Why didn't they held it last week or next week. Why tomorrow? Why? Why? Why?!!!!!!! This is sooooooo frustrating. I just want to complain and complain and complain. I mean, think about it, I do not feel like I have my own "team" in WSS. Yes my C div soccer boys are doing well in tournament but it's pretty much Philip's team. I did not train them from scratch. I'm only basking in their "glory". Fair enough that I've been co-coaching the past 4 weeks. And occasionally coaching them by myself a couple of times (like today) but it's just not MY team. I'm getting frustrated by the lack of opportunity. I can't even go to CCK Stadium tomorrow to SEE what I want to see...nationals t&f.

I've been following AI's track and field program this season and yet I can't go for the BIGGEST event of the year tomorrow. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! This is KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FRUSTRATED!!!!!!,

Monday....beginning of the week

I didn't do much over the weekend. Confirmed my booking with Klaseboer. Other than that, I met Agus and Rina for dinner at Tambuah Mas. Quality stuff. Dinner was on them. haha. We wanted to catch a movie but silly me, didn't bring my glasses. Duh!!

I pretty much stayed home on Sunday (only went to the gym in the morning - been 2 weeks since I hit the gym) and attended my neighbour's wedding. Taufik Batisah (Singapore Idol 1) was there (Taufik's their cousin) and so was Baikhaki Kaizan - Singapore soccer player. They were like superstars....everybody wanted to take photo with them. Even my mum got to take photo with Taufik Batisah. Sheeesshh....

Today, I went with my C div soccer boys to their second nationals game. They won 13 - 1 beating Greenridge Sec. Duh....I'm surprised how Greenridge can get into League 1 of the Nationals. It's a good feeling but I know they didn't do well. Lots of silly errors. Oh well, I'll have to work on that during training tomorrow.

Anyway, teaching frisbee for PE now. Today's lesson was alright. A couple of things that can be improved but generally ok. I'm off now. Tired....

Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, my weekend is here. I had my investiture yesterday. We all finally had the opportunity to meet one another again after 3 weeks. Seems like everyone's complaining about their life. I should be grateful with mine then. haha. I mean, comparing to some of them, namely Seok Kuan, I have an alright load I suppose. Furthermore, no one cares a hoot about my NT classes. haha.

Then we help Azhar with a bit of filming. They wanted to film some NS man who's doing well in their outside career as well. Azhar is a pretty high profile lecturer. The video might be shown in Singapore Discovery Centre for the next 10 years. Meaning, my face will be shown in SDC for the next 10 years as well!!!! hahaha!!! My 1 minute of fame!!!! hahahahahahaha!!!!

The few of us went to IMM for makan after that and just went window shopping. Didn't do much. I hope to be able to make it to CCK stadium for the track & field finals next wednesday. Hopefully I won't be arrowed to do last minute stuff.

Makan-time,

Campfire's burning...Auld Lang Syne

Ma ma mia......it's been a hectic and physically draining 3 days. But I love it!!! Yes I'm physically tired but mentally I'm great. First day was easy. By the time we got to Jalan Bahtera, it was already 11am. They had their "pasar malam" and attendance taking in school. They broke into their groups in camp. I was pretty much in charge of the land expedition. I was in charge of those leaving from Kranji back to Jalan Bahtera. Dropped by Sungei Buloh to see monitor lizards and just enjoy the breeze. Quality stuff.

Pretty much the same for Tuesday as well. I didn't get much...in fact no opportunity to see the rope and tower elements. Now that I think about it, the sec 2 AI camp, I also didn;t get to see my class do their rope elements. Hhhmm.....maybe I'm suitable to do land expeditions.

My bloody "bunk" is like an ice box. Freezing my @$$ off at night. Gggeeezzzz. Oh ya, I conducted the morning PTs for both mornings. One of my C div boys (captain) had a bad cramp this morning. Not sure if he can play tomorrow (C Boys Nationals game). A number of casualties nearby as well. Oh well...bound to happen.

I dropped by CCK stadium to see AI track team running. Quality....C Div 4x400m girls made it to the finals. The 1500m B boys all came in a respectable position/timings. Good stuff. I'm happy for them At least I didn't make my trip down there for nothing. Anyway...very tired now. Convocation tomorrow....oh no...investiture.

Transformers....robots in disguise.....transformers....more than meets the eye...

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! I love the show!!!! I watched Transformers last night. Reminisce the good old times. My childhood memories. It's arguably one of the BEST movies I've watched ever. It just brings back all the good memories...optimus prime, bumblebee, jazz, starscream. I so have to get the DVD once it's out.

Dropped by Agus' solemnization yesterday at Pearl River restaurant at Suntec City...not Golden Peony. Don't know where I got that idea...duh. I got there late some more....damn it. By the time I got there, the solemnization part (signing etc) was over. Missed the most crucial or important part. Shit!! Didn't eat there though since the food not halal so they promised to make it up to me. His mum, elder sis and younger brother were there. The elder sis still look the same. Younger bro, taller and more mature now. His mum looked older...obviously. duh....the last time I saw them was like 10 years ago....maybe 12.

Anyway, my dear and I left shortly after. Didn't want to impose on them. He felt bad too but no worries lah. This coming weekend we should be meeting up he said.

Back to Transformers. It an action packed movie. It kept me on my toes throughout. Quality stuff. And the cinematography is excellent. Kudos to the producers. Tomorrow going to camp...I'll miss the track & field meet on Monday. I'll probably drop by on Wednesday. Hopefully. I'll need to pack my stuff later. Oh ya...bring mobile phone charger too. And it's 07072007 yesterday....Live Earth Day. 24hrs of non stop music on Channel 5.

RuDy

It's been an eventful day....

...Knowing is not enough, we must apply...

Flu check....still there.
Cough check....still coughing.
Voice check....still can't shout.
Pocket check....still no money !@#$%^&

On my way to work, I took bus 913 and saw Ruiying (my ex WRS student). She ws on the bus to get to Woodlands stadium as WRS was having their sports day today. We only saw each other when she was getting off the bus.

Work was as usual...tiring. Flu and cough didn't help at ALL. I REALLY need to recover by this weekend. If not, I'll faint when I go for Sec 2 NYAA camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Got 3G to go blogging at the computer lab today. Thank god there were many absentees...haha. Smaller class for me to handle. They were getting on my nerves today...too bad I can't shout, no voice after yesterday's soccer training.

Ya...yesterday conducted their final soccer training (for my C boys) before their Nationals next week. Since the core of the team will be going for Sec 2 camp, they won;t have much time to train. I worked closely with the defenders since Philip had already worked on their attacks on Tuesday.

After Friday prayers today, I just had to leave school. The day before stayed till 6+. I just couldn't take it anymore. 2.15pm and I was out of school. Made my way to Chua Chu Kang stadium for the Nationals Track & Field. Saw my ex-supervisor (Gobi Nair of Sports School). saw a couple of my ex-students from AISS - namely Wei Wen and Yu Hern from my 2E4. Didn't see them in action though. But I got to see Eileen running her 100m semi-finals. Not bad at all. Taking into consideration that she's "new" to track & field. Kudos to her into getting in the semis. The 4X100m B boys Firman, Haris, Syafiq and not sure who's the other one, did well as well. Getting into semis. So did the 4X100m C girls, consisting of Muslihah, Eileen, Wei Wen and Jiaxin. In fact, overall they did well. Weird right....I'm teaching in WSS yet I'm supporting AISS. Ya...I find it weird myself. haha. Maybe once I get myself attached to a track & field team (or I'm the teacher in charge) then I'll support my own school. haha.

Rauf gave me a lift home since he was dropping by school as well.

And then at about 8+pm....2 little devils (my ex-students) disturbed me. Cheryl and Sandi. Cheryl has conference calling and Feon joined in the conversation for a short while. Cheryl can talk NON STOP with her Indian accent. Duh....that's why she's doing Indian Dance for National Day. haha. Too bad I don't have a chance to watch. Hopefully someone tapes it so that I can view it. haha.

Anyway, I need to iron my clothes for Agus' solemnization tomorrow. 1.20pm at Suntec City's Golden Peony restaurant. Maybe I need to wear my new shoes. Oh ya....talking about new shoes, that day I wore my new Asics DS Trainer XI and it got dirty when I stepped into the field. Silly me also to wear new shoes when I'm teaching in the wet and dirty field. Duh....heart pain ah!!!!

Ok, going to finish up my worksheet (yes doing worksheets for my 3NT EL classes). And off to slumberland.....

Flu, cough, voiceless,

Now flu better...but no voice...

...Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat...

My flu is better but now lost my voice. Totally can't hear myself talking. This is bad...very bad. Just got home from CCA training anyway. If this goes on every day, I'll faint. I haven't been able to do my own personal thing on weekdays. I just get too tired by the time I reach home...in addition to the fact that I reach home like 6pm or 7pm almost everyday.

I wish I was a student!!!!! Students just don't know how lucky they are. Come to school, relax, study and concentrate in class when they need to. Absorb whatever information they can get, go home do a bit of homework (not everyday they have homework) and off they go at 2pm to play. Shiok right? And yet they are still complaining...some don't even want to study anymore. Wait till they work...then they'll regret.

Anyway, too tired and lazy to blog now. Ciao. Oh ya...I started a blog with my 3F just now. Should be starting one with 3G.

Voiceless,
RuDy

I'm still down with flu...

Oh man...I'm still bogged down by this flu. This is killing me. I NEED to recover by this week. Going Jalan Bahtera camp next week.

Had training with the C boys yesterday. The first 11 players are excellent...too bad there's no depth in the squad. Need to get them aware of the tactics. Especially when they are defending. Trained till 6.30pm. Left school only at 6.45pm. Need to start them earlier.

This afternoon, went to recce with Gary and Philip the route at Lim Chu Kang for the land expedition. Everything was ok. Just need to touch up on the worksheets and all should be set. Now still feeling sore...runny nose and coughing. Damn. Oh ya, I bought goat's milk at Hay Dairies Goat Farm just now. Not bad goat's milk. Been waiting for an opportunity since I tasted goat's milk last year at the same venue. I bought 5 bottles....taste different from cow's milk. Sweeter I would say. Dinner time now....

Runny-nose,

Youth Day....down with flu...

It's Youth Day today. So no school...means no work for me. Hit the gym in the morning. Now having flu. Duh....maybe shouldn't have hit the gym (flu symptoms were already showing yesterday). I also went to collect my investiture gown at Serangoon Broadway just now. Saw Wei Wen stadium again...training. We talked for a while.

Did a bit of lesson preparation for this week. Oh ya, need to book a computer lab for 3F this week. Going to ask Philip to book for me since I don't have access to info mgmt. 4 days this week. Looking forward to the next weekend. haha. Hope can reach Agus' solemnization on time this coming Saturday (provided Gary lets me off early on Saturday morning from Jalan Bahtera). The following week better still...9, 10, 11 camp at Jalan Bahtera. 12 is investiture at NTU. Only 1 so called teaching day...Friday. At the same time, it means I will miss out on a few events at CCK stadium for the Nationals. Will try to make it for as many events as possible.

Tired ah. Hate the flu....bogs me down. Laterz...

Flu,

Not too bad a weekend...

...Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest what you never planted...

Friday was a pretty short day (I left school by 2pm. Don't care). Had a meeting about next week's deployment for the NAPFA and PE lesson with the PE department. At the same time, I've been deployed to go Jalan Bahtera next Saturday to recce and follow the camp leaders for training. Shit thing is that it's half a day event but I MUST attend Agus and Rina's wedding as well. His solemnization is next Saturday at Golden Peony restaurant. Tough luck. Looks like I have to bring my stuff to change there. Toublesome. Went out for dinner with my dear on Friday night. Walked around Bugis Junction for a bit. Didn't shop cause I'm broke.

Yesterday (Sat), I went to the gym in the morning. Was supposed to be at the gym by 8am, couldn't wake up. haha. Only got to the gym at 9am. Met Ryan there a bit later. Then we went for a short slow run. Saw Wei Wen and Eileen there too. They were training. Seems like they are training almost everyday. Possibility of burning out. Got the band at Lee Hwa later in the afternoon. Should be ready by next week.

I went to the National Stadium for it's closing ceremony later in the afternoon. Got there at about 5.15pm. Saw Harith and Haris and the rest of the AI boys at the overhead bridge. One donkey was smoking. Don't know his name. Felt like taking off my sandals and knock his head. Idiot. Hopefully the track boys know better than to pick up such stupid act. I made my way to the stadium with my dear and Ryan. Met Charles, SK, JQ, Rongzhen, Yea Bih, Alvin Tok and his gf there. Azhar joined us for a short while. final score, Singapore 0 Australia 3. We created quite a number of chances in the first half though. Just a bit unfortunate that Indra Sahdan didn't score. He had a one on one saved by Mark Schwarzer and another header ricochet off the crossbar. Unlucky. In the second half, the Lions went kapuut. Stayed a little while to see the Grand Old Dame being put out for the final time. Well, a new sports hub will be build. It'll be good for the future youth of Singapore.
After the game, we went to Bencoolen Street to makan. Left home at about 12.45am. By the time I got home it was almost 2am. Tired....I'm still feeling it now. I better prepare for what to do for my EL classes next week. Better start planning. Then later still need to go out with mum. I need to take a nap...

Sleepy,
RuDy
