Next semester's timetable sucks big time!! LOTS of lllooonnnggg breaks in between (like 4 hours break duh). Furthermore, on Thursdays my lesson ends at 7.30pm. And Fridays, 8.30pm. It's the weekend damn it....sucky. Really hope Gurmit Singh (hockey lecturer) will be willing to change and be flexible about the timings. Have to wait and see. On top of that I still got to go to Outram Sec from NIE on every Tuesdays for English. It's going to be a long semester (eventhough it's only for 8 weeks).
On another note, Agus' wedding is on the 16th Sept In Jakarta. Slight problem for me....I would have been posted to my new school and might have problems there. I mean, it might not be easy to get leave. 16th's a Sunday...unless I can get a flight on that very night then I don't mind at all. Oh well, I'll see how it goes. The four of us (Agus, Rina and my dear) went to the Singapore Garden Festival at Suntec City last night...complimentary ticket from Rina. It's not bad I guess. I just need a GOOD digi cam. It's about time I get one. Still waiting for Daniel's lobang. See how it goes. Going to contact him next week. I want the Canon S3. hehe. He says he can get good discounts. It's retailing at $799 now. Anyway, going to makan a bit now. Laterz.

Torrential downpour....
It's been raining non-stop for the past couple of days. When I say non-stop I mean it alright. Honestly, I lllooovvveee this kind of weather. I mean, it's always hot here in Singapore...not that I'm complaining but it's just different ya know. It's at times like this that I miss Sydney LOTS!!
Sometimes staying at home suckz. Especially when my family's not quite right. Must be that dumb sis of mine giving problems time and again. It really pisses me off. Don't wanna think or care about it.
Went to catch a show with my dear, Agus and his gf (Rina) on Sunday. We caught "The Holiday". It's so-so....like a romantic movie. Expected it to be more hilarious with Jack Black around but wasn't so. We might do something together on X'mas eve...probably mahjong session or something like that. We'll play by ear.
Gonna do some net surfing now...laterz.
Regards,
Rudy
PS: I haven't played soccer for like 4 weeks now. Leg a bit itchy. hehe!

What a run...
Just completed the Standard Chartered 10km run. A slow and steady run. I completed the run in approximately 1hr 02 min. Not bad.....considering that I didn't train for such runs. I was a sub 1hr (52 - 53mins) when I was in the army but that was like 8/9 years ago. Things have changed.....haha. I've got 2 wedding's to attend in the afternoon, Siti's (WRSS) and Baktiar's (PESS). It's probably a good idea to take a nap now. Laterz...

I am one year older....sigh
It's my birthday today. Why am I not happy? Cause I'm one year older....sweet 27. lol. Oh well, we've got to grow older one day. It seems like I was just 21 the other day and now I'm 27. Can't believe that I've been back in Singapore for 3 years now (since I came back from Sydney). I do occasionally miss the life in Sydney....then again no point brooding over it. We have to MOVE ON! Anyway, going to change now...going out for a movie and dinner. Nothing special. Just a simple birthday dinner...that's it.
Cheers,
RuDy

Exam is over!
Finally, the dreadful day has passed. Yup, exam was over yesterday. Feels good...a load off my back. Now I'll just have to wait for the results.
I went to the Adidas Post Season sale at the Singapore Expo yesterday. Didn't buy much thing. Just a pair of shoes, shorts and shin guards. Kind of regretted not buying 2 pairs of shoes. Oh well, save $$$ haha. Oh ya....talking about $$$, end of year bonus has been declared at 2.2. Not too bad. I shouldn't be complaining...after all I'm being paid to study. hehe. Collected the standard chartered pack at Suntec as well. I'm having flu now so can't really "train" for the run. Then again it's only 10km so no need for training. I'm hungry....going to eat breakfast and then medicine....and then ZZzzzzz.

Is this the beginning of my scoring streak??? hehe.
We had a friendly game yesterday (Braddell Boyz FC). And guess what, I scored the last goal in our 6-1 demolition. I was given the opportunity to roam forward in the final 15 minutes and made good opportunity of it (considering that I played sweeper for most of the game). No game next week.....and league game back on the 3rd Dec (though I can't play - Standard Chartered Run).
I'm a bit stressed out. In the midst of studying for examination. Ya...exams is on this Friday, 24th Nov. Kind of studying but not soaking in everything. Brain's not as absorbing as when I was younger I guess (good excuse) haha!! Shows that I'm old. Motor skills and psychology. Best thing is I'm not even sure about the format. Sheesshhh. Guess I'll have to make do with what I know. Well, gonna hit the books again. Laterz.

Red hot!!!
It's been more than 2 weeks since I last updated the blog. Nothing much going on....boring. Oh ya, met Din when he was back here for a week. He's doing well in Melbourne. Damn...I should have stayed in Sydney....and who knows, I'll be like him now. Not exactly like him but at least I won't be a teacher!! haha! Oh well, too late. We'll talk about this "issue" again in 3 1/2 years. lol.
Last Saturday, 4th Nov, there was a Deeparaya Cup 2006. It's like last year's tournament in Sembawang Sec. Again, the ex Woodlands Ring teachers called me and Charles to play for them. The Woodlanders also asked me to play for them but I gave my word to the Woodlands Ring teachers. Too bad....first come, first serve. I scored 2, in a game against Hillgrove...unbelievable right. First goal with a left foot shot and the second was a right foot cross/shot. LOL!!! We played at the CAGE today. Shiok!!! Had so much fun. And I'm scoring goals with my left leg. Hmmm.....maybe I should take more pot shots with my left leg in my Sunday League games. haha! If not, I'll never up my goal tally....miserable 1 in like 100 games...LOL!!
I'm pretty glad that everything's pretty much done...English assignment and stuff. Just left with the Motor Skills/Psychology exam on 24th Nov. Gotta start studying. Now, time for makan and TV!! I'll start studying tomorrow. hehe! Ciao!!

Salam Aidilfitri......Selamat Hari Raya
Selamat Hari Raya to all Muslims wherever you may be.
It's a sad Aidilfitri. Mainly because my grandpa's not around anymore. Little did I know that last year was the final time I would hear him giving his last "speech" to all his children and grandchildren.
My day started out in a rush. I got up late (supposed to be up by 6.45am) so as not to rush for my Aidilfitri prayers. Thank god I made it on time though. Rushed my way to block 610 Yishun for my Aildilfitri prayers. Got home around 9am and just chilled out till 12plus. Left home at about 1pm to my grandpa's house.....only to not visit him this time round. Went to the "other" (paternal) grandma's house at about 3.00pm. Stayed there till about 5.45pm and went home. As usual, I didn't do much. I keep on eating and eating and eating. Unbelievable!!! I really need to go for my routine jog. I put on like 5kg today....geeezzz!! Oh well, once a year. I MUST start my routine jog tomorrow. I'll target at least 30mins tomorrow and gradually increase bit by bit. Should be ready by 3rd December.
Time to brush my teeth and off to bed. Laterz....
PS: One of the quietest Aidilfitri I've had.

His time was up...
It's been a not so good day for me. My maternal grandfather passed away this afternoon at 1.30pm. I'm glad that I was there to see him breathe for the last time. I was at TTSH at 11.15am cause the doctor wanted to see his representative to explain certain things to us. n a nutshell, his body wasn't functioning anymore. Doctor said that he would go "anytime". Kidney failure, intestinal infection, pneumonia and allergy. That pretty much sums it all up. He peacefully left us at about 1.30pm. In a way, I'm glad that he didn't have to suffer anymore. He's 85 and his body isn't functioning much so....I didn't want to see him suffer. The doctor felt the same way and didn't actually do much to prolong his suffering....of course upon permission and instructions from us (to not put him in ICU).
There was a bit hoo-haa in the later part of the day. Well, as far as the local law is concerned, my grandfather had to be brought to the coroner for post-mortem. Only problem is, my family do not want to see him being "cut up" for post mortem. Of course, as a Muslim, it's better that we return to the Almighty one in one piece. I'm not saying that once you're cut up, you won't return in one piece but it's better to return in "perfect" condition. Another reason was that Muslims do keep the body for long. We attend to the funeral as soon as possible. So by keeping him in the mortuary, it's gonna take a day or two before we can take the body home and attend to his funeral. The issue was that my uncle (an in-law) was adamant that the body not sent to coroner. But of course, the doctor was also adamant that the body be sent to the coroner. From my point of view, I don't see any other options. Since the doctors were adamant about it, what else can we do. After all, it is the law. i mean, it's also not necessary that just because the body is sent to a coroner, that it will be cut up. The coroner might just take a look and sign the papers. A big hoo-haa and in the end.....I was right. The body still had to be sent to the coroner. We just wasted time...I mean the body could have ended up in SGH earlier on and be collected tomorrow morning. But now, the body had to be left in the mortuary at TTSH as it was after office hours. Now the body will only be brought to SGH tomorrow morning thus delaying the time to attend to his funeral ASAP. But hey, who am I to speak up. I'm only his grandchild and according to hierarchy, I'm way off the pecking order. Oh well, at least everything's ok now. It's all been good.
On a sepaprate occasion, I have the soccer carnival tomorrow 2.30pm to 6pm. I'm a bit disappointed that I can't play (attending to the funeral). I mean, I was looking forward to this carnival and dinner with my classmates at Tandoor. Then again, I guess there are things that's more important to attend to. No worries, there's always a next time. I guess it's time for me to take a rest now. Laterz.
PS: I'm alright. I had prepared for this day for sometime now upon seeing him in hospitalized. I'll miss him....

Soccer Assessment.....
Everything's piling up. It's the 19th or 20th day of Ramadan (I think). I had my soccer assessment earlier on. I think I did alright. Not many major mistakes. All the assignments are piling up. Soccer assignment due next Friday. My English 3rd assignment due the day before Hari Raya. And I'm pretty sure that my IS Reflections will be due somewhere around next week or the week after as well. It's going to be a busy couple of weeks.
Oh ya, I still have Motor Development lab as well. Damn....better start working on it now.

Long tiring day...
I had soccer earlier on. It was tiring.....very tiring. I couldn't perspire....no more water in the body (fasting). Thank god Charles gave me a lift (he dropped me off at his place). I just took a bus home then.
I've still got some assignments to do as well. Mainly the motor skills, IS and soccer. EL (oral component) will start next week. Hopefully not too many assignments. Oh well. I'm bushed...check you out some other day.
PS: Oh ya, should I go back to WRS for permanent posting? I'm in 2 minds.

It's been a while...
It's been more than 2 weeks since I last update on what's happening. Well, first and foremost, Ramadhan is here. Yup, it's day 8 of the fasting month. So far so good. Weather has been kind on me. Especially on days that I have physical activity (Wed and Thurs - soccer). I keep on saying that I want to go for a jog upon breaking fast, but just too tired. I guess I'll have to up the pace and tempo once Hari Raya comes.
Assignments have been piling. I've got my EL assignment due tomorrow. I'm pretty much done with it so no worries. Other assignments are also here. My first assignment for IS (Task Card) I think I did badly for it. I didn't have any pictures and I'm not sure if my tutor likes the drill. Oh well....too bad. Hopefully my teaching will show him something.
As for the soccer assignment, should be ok. Frankly, I'll be sad if I don't get an A. I mean frankly, there's only 3 or 4 in the group that can play. I hope he sees that I'm putting in effort. Oh ya, I'm taking hockey next semester. People are saying "Oh you're taking hockey cause it's Gurmit. I'm sure you'll get an A". Screw them.....doesn't matter who's teaching. I mean, it's a toss between hockey, soft ball and tennis. Duh....
Anyway, I got to get back to my assignment. Laterz...

Psychology Test.....
I had my psychology test yesterday....my my. I just hope I did ok. Not expecting distinction or stuff like that. As long as I pass, I'm good with that.
It was a lloooonnnggg day, yesterday. I got up at 5am. Why? Cause I have to be at Juying Sec for my micro teaching by 7.20am. I left home at 5.45am. Got at Juying at about 7.15am. Just nice I think. My lesson didn't go too well. I had the best sec 3 class (3E1) and yet still have problems....not in terms of disciplining or management. Just that, I don't think they get the concept that well. Probably cause it's been a long while since they were taught something...it's always been free play for them. I taught them about running into open spaces and spatial awareness. Overall, I wasn't quite pleased with how my lesson went.
During English tutorial, I felt so lost. We had to do a descriptive paragraph about OREO (we were given a packet each) and my oh my...the stuff that some of them wrote, it's just masterpiece. I really felt inferior. I'm barely hanging in there.
Then we had the test.....enough said.
Oh ya, we had a friendly game last Sunday. We drew 1-1. The referee sucks. Maybe I should just keep my comments to myself about "her". Yup, it's a lady. Lady referees just can't make it. I didn't exactly have a good game either. It was a less that satisfactory performance from me but the goal (that we conceeded) definitely was not because of me.
Fasting (Ramadhan) month coming soon. This Sunday could be the last time before fasting starts. One month of any physical activities.....unless it's for NIE of course (no choice). That's it for now. Got to prepare for school. Laterz.

RuDy

Convening ICG Rugby...
My class convened the PESS ICG Rugby on Wednesday evening. Turnout was good. There were no hiccups and no injuries. Of course there's going to be minor cuts here and there but that's normal.
The class had an excellent game...winning 2 and losing 1. I didn't play....for 2 reasons. Reason 1, I suck at rugby. Reason 2, I was busy convening (though that's just an excuse). hehe. We went for supper after that....all the way to Geylang. Got home like 12.45am. Anyway, off on Thursday and today (Friday) because of the SPEA conference in NIE. Ok, time for lunch.

Played with only 9 men...
Had a game today (BBFC) and we lost 5-2. What was unbelievable was that we were playing with 9 men!!! That's right. Why? Simply because 4 cancelled on the team at the very last minute. I mean, that's a bit irresponsible right? Unless you're really sick then I understand. If it's simply because you can't get up...it's just irresponsible. Geeezzz!! We were never outplayed though. Outnumbered yes but outplayed.....NEVER!!!! Oh well, we played well. We held on for as long as we could. What else can I say.....
I better finish up my EL assignment. It's due tomorrow. I just need to touch up and print the lecture notes for tomorrow as well. Laterz.

Quarterfnals in the futsal tournament....
I played for one of the MOE teams in the Civil Service Futsal Tournament yesterday. They sent 5 teams. I was in MOE 3. We did quite ok I think. Majority of my team mates were from NIE...but somehow, I only know 1 of them. haha! Not surprising since I don't actually know much people. Anyway, it was a decent tournament. Just a bit disappointed with my goals...only managed to score 1. Maybe I'm just not a natural goalscorer....after all, I assisted quite a number. Came home with a swollen left shin and bad abrasion on the left knee. It's still hurting now. Razif and Siva from WRS were there as well.
I'm going back to WRS on Thursday morning to play with the boys. Invited by Razif and Siva of course. Time to shower...and eat. Laterz.

My first (and possibly last) ICG...
We had the soccer ICG yesterday. It was one hell of a tournament. Check out what I wrote for the match report. It basically sums up what I'm gonna write here...
Team 3D Bows Out In Style
For a moment, the crowd looked like it might fall flat but as the first game progressed, the atmosphere did enough to lift Team 3D’s spirits on a historic day at the NIE/PESS Astroturf. In spite of missing two regular team players through injuries, Sheikh (heel) and Alvin Tok (ankle), Team 3D had an outstanding outing in the inaugural PESS Soccer ICG Tournament. Flanked by arguably one of the best physiotherapist in the world, Tan Seok Kuan and team trainers, Tay Yea Bih and Zhang Rongzhen, Team 3D was well prepared for the encounter.
Team 3D approached the first game with caution. Playing in an attacking trio comprising of Wong Yong Jie (Kit), Isabelle Tan Chee She and Captain Jonathan Tan, Team 3D struggled to break through the opponent’s backline in the first couple of minutes. Team 3D shifted into second gear in the third minute and venture forward in an all out attack formation leaving the opponent’s striker unmarked. The move almost produced a goal with a sweet long pass from midfielder Yeo Swee Yeow into the path of the captain. Isabelle, the pocket dynamo, made a world class tackle on arguably the biggest man on the pitch in the fifth minute and the crowd went wild. A spectator was overheard saying, “She makes the man look like a clown”. Team 3D was on the back foot for the next couple of minutes when the opponent’s star player was introduced. Nothing though could beat the rock solid defender Teo Peng Kee as he stood tall between the posts. In the end, both teams deserved the 0 – 0 draw.
In the second game, Team 3D responded with a superlative showing by fielding a team that played a more direct approach against the favorites. The defense was marshaled by Tan Sher Chong who performed admirably with his timing tackles that saw him tumbling across the pitch at least twice. Providing excellent support with his overlapping runs and covering the defensive holes was the tough-tackling Ong Yong Hui. In the sixth minute, Team 3D orchestrated a well worked plan that released the evergreen Teo Soon Ann down the left channel but the defiant opponent’s defender managed to clear out the danger. The following minute saw the Republic of Singapore’s women player Isabelle Tan doing all the damage, turning the opponent’s defender inside out before delivering a low cross that was well intercepted. Captain Tan was clearly determined to get on the score sheet as he attempted a rasping 20 yards drive before being replaced by Kit with two minutes to go. Kit came up with a brilliant piece of individual skill, cheekily taking on the defenders before attempting a low cross shot which just whizzed across the goal mouth, summing up Team 3D’s frustration. “The opponents had nothing on us. We dominated the game but just couldn’t find the net. One goal is all it takes to determine the winner and the loser in games like this. We could have won,” said manager Yon See Kian, “but the opponents toughened it out and resisted as much as they could.”
In the final game of the night, Tham Jing Quan enhanced her growing reputation when she made an excellent run down the right wing. She dazzled the opponent with her quick thinking in the very first minute as she attempts a one-two with Kit. The next couple of minutes saw Team 3D pounding on the opponent’s door as waves after waves of attack came crashing on the opponents without producing results. The following minute produced the “move of the game”. From a kick in, man-of-the-match Swee Yeow floated a fantastic ball into the danger area which was met by an excellent header from the mobile Soon Ann. The crowd went wild as Team 3D took a well deserved lead. The opponent had their defender to thank, for keeping the score line decent as Team 3D searched for their second goal. Kit came close to doubling the tally with a one on one situation in the eighth minute as he was released but the defender stood tall and denied Team 3D. Another accurate passing from the rock, Peng Kee, produced another superb move involving Captain Jonathan who came in for Soon Ann and pocket rocket Isabelle, who came in for Jing Quan. Unfortunately, time ran out on Team 3D as they held on to their 1 – 0 win. “The better team won. We should have added to our goal tally but I’m very pleased with the team’s performance. I guess we were just unlucky,” echoed head coach Tay Chew Woo as the teams walked into the dressing room.
Yup, that's practically it. Time for dinner.

A friendly thrashing,,,
Braddell Boyz FC had a friendly game at NUS High School yesterday. Field was not too bad. A bit dry and bouncy but generally, it was ok. We played a group of guys that weren't really good. Unbelievable scoreline though...9-4. Haha! Ya, we let in 4 goals. That was what I'm pissed about. 2 of the goals were clearly offside.
Anyway, the defence (myself included) were just taking a stroll around the field. In fact, the whole team was. We really took them lightly and that's why they managed to score 4. But credit to the forwards. It was a job well done. I should have tried to score a goal. Couldn't have met an easier opponent to up my goal chart...haha!
Time to go. Where else...NIE. Laterz.

Invited to a Public Service Futsal Tournament...
Wow! The MOE team invited me to play with them next Sunday (27th Aug) in the Public Service Futsal Tournament. Should I say yes? I've got till tonight to decide. I'm very honoured to have been given an opportunity. I mean, I've always wanted to play with/for MOE. This is my chance. I'll have to grab it I guess. They're sending in 5 teams. Each team can register up to 12 players. It's going to be a 1 day affair....kicking off at 0830hours to 2100hours. I guess it also depends on how far we qualify. If we're going to be knocked out after the first round, then it's going to be over early.
Anyway, I guess I'll give it a shot. You never know....maybe I could break into the MOE 11-a side Division 2 team. Who knows.....

It's been a long day...
Whew! What a day. Just got home from uni. Had soccer today. I was drenched.....every part wet. It's a warm day and it sure was a tiring session. But one thing for sure, I do learn lots from Azhar's lessons. Having some problems understanding Psychology class though. I better start flipping through the psychology and motor learning text.
Had lunch at Banquet at Jurong Point with Daniel and Gene today. Good lunch...a bit of bonding for sure. Had SCOOPS ice cream...yummmy. It sure was good!
The soccer ICG is next week, Wednesday. Not sure if I'm playing. They're asking me to play but I'll see how. The fact that it starts at 7.30pm and ends at like 11 turns me off.
Anyway, nothing much to say. Time to shower and dinner. Laterz.

What did I do this weekend?
What did I do over the weekend? Nothing.....that's right. I did nothing. Went out for dinner on Saturday evening at Anatolia (Far East Plaza). Collected my clothes from Agus as well. Yup, the one I sent for tailor at Bangkok. Other than that, I just laze around at home. Felt good. Especially since my body was aching.
No game last weekend. There should be a friendly game at NUS High School this Sunday. It's an evening game though...5pm.
English lecture starts today...oh well. Gotta prepare for lesson. Laterz.

One more week done....
Went to the final NDP at Kallang Stadium on Wednesday. Ya....final cause they're tearing down the Kallang Stadium to make way for the Sports Hub. It was good....coming from me (let's just say I've been to a number of NDP's) and this year's was....full of fireworks. The choreography wasn't that great but the fireworks were aplenty.
2nd week of NIE gone. Inter class games starting next week....I'll probably not be there anyway. I wasn't there last year so I don't think I'm gonna be there this year. They actually voted me to be the captain for soccer but I managed to "push" it to Jonathan. When the class voted for me, Jonny looked disappointed. After all, he was the captain last year (though soccer was cancelled). haha!!! He looked happy when I told him that the class decided to make him captain. hahahaha!!!!
English module's gonna kick in next week. More work....sigh. Oh well, it's not as if I have a choice. Hopefully the textbooks (Motor Learning and Psychology) will come in next week. I got to start reading both. I'm so lost especially for psychology. Anyway, time for a nap. Laterz...
PS: We drew out game last week. 1-1...with a team that's at the bottom of the table :(

Back at NIE.....
I'm back at NIE. First day wasn't too bad....maybe because I only have a 4.30pm - 5.30pm lecture. 2nd day was bbaaadd...why? I had a lesson 9.30am to 10.30am and then.... a llloooonnnngggg break till 4.30pm for my next lecture. Thank god it's only till next week (cause EL classes starts on the 14th Aug). 6 hours break is way too long.
It's only been 2 - 3 days and there's tons of assignments!!! We're having another Instructional strategies module...should be going to Juying Sec for the teaching practice. Soccer module starts tomorrow....not really looking forward to it actually.
Oh ya, I got a new pair of boots!! woohoo!! It's a classic Adidas Telstar TRX FG. It's a bit flashy cause it's white but it looks good. Not too expensive either....original price is $109 but afer 30% discount I got it for $76 or so. Hopefully it's just as comfy as my current Adidas F30+. Anyway, time to makan......haven't had my lunch and it's past 4.00pm.

MOE 7-a-side Champions!!!
Woohoo!! It's been a while since I won something for playing soccer. It's either I come in second or knocked out in the semifinals. But not this time. We were the champions today. Yup! My PESS friend, Aidil, called last night asking if I was free to play for the MOE team in the 7-a-side tournament. Game kicked off at about 9am and I was home by 1.30pm. 10 min game...round robin for the group matches. Winner of group proceed to the semis.
First game we drew 1-1. The opponent scored the equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game. Guess who I played against in the second game....Gary Ong and Philip. Yup, it was only yesterday that I said thanks to Gary for the experience at WSS. haha! We again drew 1-1. Again we took the lead and allowed them to equalise. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to be conscious that there's no offside in 7-a-side soccer. After all, I'm used to playing the offside trap when I play for Braddell Boyz in our Sunday Clementeer League games. Furthermore we didn't play a sweeper or last man role so it gets confusing at times but I think we did well.
We won 2-1 in the semifinals, against the Technical Support Officers. It was a comfortable game. In fact, we were in control for all the games.
We played against Nasir's team in the finals (Nasir is the MOE team manager). So it was a 1-2 finish for MOE. I didn't get nothing....no $$$ just a gold medal. Not bad huh? Hopefully I'll see more playing time for MOE.
Now I'm just waiting for my dear to come my house. We decided to just watch VCDs/DVDs today. After all, I'm quite tired. Might as well take a nap now. Laterz...

Today was the last day in WSS. I had a good experience there. Just a teeny weeny sad....oh well. We all move on. Back to NIE next Monday.....dreadful NIE. I'm so not looking forward to travelling all the way to NIE. Especially when EVERYDAY my lesson ends at 5.30pm. Horrible....I really hate late classes. I don't mind starting class early like 8.30am but ending late...that sucks.
Got a game this weekend. Hopefully the pitch will be good.

One more day before back to NIE....
Mr Gobi Nair dropped by today to "observe" my lesson. It went pretty well I think. He even said that if that was a "real" practicum, he would have given me a credit. I'm kinda happy with that. What more can I ask for. Of course, there's always room for improvements.
I just got a haircut as well....it's a once a month thingy. Back to dreadful NIE on Monday. I'm so not looking forward to travelling to NIE...especially since my timetable sucks big time. Just when I'm bonding with my students....
Oh ya, met Ryan earlier on....topped up my investments. Got to plan for my future ya. Hopefully the unit trusts will pick up soon. Need to make $$$$

My observation is over...3 days to go
Three more days and I'm back to NIE. The travellling's gonna kill me. Just as I am about to know the students better and communicating openly with them, it's time to go. Oh well, that has always been the case. The camp leaders (sec 3) are starting to talk to me and most of 4E are opening up. Too bad I guess.
My 2 lesson observation are done. It went well....to me at least. Positive comments and observations by Sani and Gary....but of course there's always room for improvements. After all, there's no such thing as a perfect lesson. Hopefully everything will go smoothw hen Gobi comes in on Thursday (yup, he said he's coming). I better get my paperwork done....
I guess, to some extend, I'm gonna miss teaching in Woodlands Sec. Even though I've only been there for 5 weeks. The students are....if I may say...just as nice as those in Woodlands Ring Sec. Back to TV for a bit now....laterz...

What a camp...
Woah!!! What a camp. Had a 3 days 2 nights Sec 2 NYAA Camp with Woodlands Secondary School on Thurs, Fri and Sat. What a camp!! Pretty much the same as PESS residential camp. Only difference was that it's not 4D3N and there wasn't any water alement activities. theme for the camp was World Cup. I was "Team Captain" for Brazil. The camp was pretty much run by the camp leaders made up of secondary 3 students. They sure did an excellent job. I was impressed I must say. We just had to facilitate and help out in any way that we can...after all the leaders are only a year older.
First activity (for Brazil) was the "Amazing Race". We walked from Jalan Bahtera MOE campsite (Lim Chu Kang) to Kranji Battle Site Park. It sure was a llloooonnnngggg walk. Had to drop by the fishing farms and Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. Second day was more fun (for me at least). Just helped the students with the high elements....tower and rope activities. It's funny seeing them negotiating the different stations. Good for them. Had camp fire at night and they sure were happy. Final day was just area cleaning.
Oh ya, I had a mahjong session with Agus, Rina and my gf yesterday as well. Guess what, I won about $10.90....in just 3 hours. Not bad huh? haha. Pure luck I guess. I kinda gave them back their money by paying for the food and stuff. Just for fun. Anyway, that's it for now. Some work to do. Laterz...

Camp.....
I had my first formal observation yesterday. Everything went well... I think. To me it went well. Of course, there's ALWAYS room for improvement.
Camp tomorrow....the NYAA Sec 2 Adventure camp. Not really looking forward to it. I had my Residential Camp in May, reservist in June and now another camp in July....I guess that sums up why I'm not really looking forward to it.
Oh ya....we had a game last Sunday. We won 1-0....unfortunately it was only a friendly. It just seems that the team will self destruct when we play a league game but during friendlies, we'll dominate the game...no sweat. We just seem to shoot ourselves in the legs at times. Oh well, I shouldn't complain....

Lower sec or upper sec?
I'm confused.....I'm doing my lesson plan (badminton) for the next couple of weeks. What I'm confused about is whether to cater the lesson to lower or upper sec? I mean, there's a LOT of difference between lower and upper sec. The fact that I'm shadowing my CT, and he's teaching upper sec classes, I should logically be planning for upper sec students. Then again, my HOD feels that he might assign the lower sec classes to me for me to teach badminton. Hmmm....meaning I have to plan for BOTH lower and upper? Extra work....oh well.

World Cup to Italy
Italy won the World Cup. Zidane saw RED. I suppose these would be the 2 most popular headlines in soccer news around the world. Italy won the penalty shoot-outs 5-3. And Zidane was red carded in the 110th minute. Seems like everyone's blaming France's lost to Zidane's red card. But I don't think so. After all, in the penalty shoot out Trezeguet was the one who missed. Even if Zidane was one of the penalty takers and Trezeguet had missed, it wouldn't make a difference....France would still be out. It's just sad to see Zidane lose his cool in his swansong game. Afterall, he is the best player of the past decade. He's up there alongside Maradona and Pele. He actually cried upon receiving his marching orders. Real sad....
Had my so called first English lesson with 4E today. I took them for half a class last week. Took them for a full lesson this week. They're an ok bunch....only that they're really poor in their language. The prefer to speak in their mother tongue....especially since majority are malay. I sure hope they find my lesson useful. Anyway, the reflections that I'm supposed to fill up are killing me. I'm running out of ideas.......
My ex-student, Joyce Chua Yi Jin, got into some trouble (according to her) in school last week. She was actually one of my "favorite" students in 2/7. Reason being, she's bubbly and friendly. Well, I do hope she pull up her socks and stay away from trouble. She's a bright kid.

The better team failed to qualify
Unlucky. Simply unlucky. I competed with my 3D classmates in a 5-a-side FUTSAL tournament yesterday. Our team totally dominated the 2 games we played. We had like at least 80% of ball possession and chances. We simply just could not put the ball into the net. The first game, it was a 1-1 draw. They had ONLY 1 shot on goal and the scored. I suppose it was partially my fault. Swee Yeow got the ball and the threw it to Alvin Tok, so I decided to run up (I was the defender). Next thing I know, Alvin kicked a grounder which was intercepted by their striker. With only 1 minute to go we conceeded a goal. Kit should have buried the game much earlier. We just didn't take our chances. Oh well, it was fun though. I thought Swee Yeow (goalie), Alvin (left), Soon Ann (right), Kit (centre) and me at the back had an excellent team. We worked our a$$ off harassing the opponents and never game them time.
The second game was pretty much the same. We had majority of possession but simply couldn't find the back of the net. In the end, we were eliminated. Like Portugal, we didn't have a quality striker to finish it off. To be honest, NONE of us could play strikers including me. Strikers need to have that killer instinct. Kit is more of a winger but he did extremely well with quick footwork. 2 draws and we were out. Hopefully we'll do better for ICG games. Not sure if I'm playing though. Depends on when and what time.
Oh ya, Wawan was here for a few days. met up with him on....Thursday. He's here with his parents and wife-to-be. Didn't do much....just accompanied them shopping. Actually they went shopping and we (Wawan and myself) had a catch-up session outside Ngee Ann City. We went to Far East Plaza for dinner...my recommendation of course. I'm glad they liked the Tom Yum.
Anyway, I'll be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in the tournament yesterday. After all we dominated both games and yet did not qualify for the semifnals. Oh well, sometimes the better teams just can't win. He he.

He he.

Out of stock....
I'm so disappointed. Why? Literally EVERY (Parkway Parade, Bugis Junction, Paragon, West Mall, Bukit Panjang Plaza, Sun Plaza, Causeway Point and North Point) M1 Shop that I went to, had only the pink Motorola V3x left. No other colour. You don't expect me to get a pink mobile phone do you? Come on....pink are for girls. Screw with all the "Oh pink are metrosexual for men". Hell no. Looks like I'll have to scrap the idea of getting a V3x. Reason why I want to get it now it's because they're (M1) having a high end promotion. Usual price $298, but till 7th July, it's only $168. Big difference isn't it. Oh well....tough luck. Hopefully the Sun Plaza M1 shop will give me a ring BEFORE 7th July and tell me that stocks comes in somewhere along the week.
Then again, I've got my eyes on the Gold D&G Limited Edition Motorola v3i. The damage's going to be like $498 or something like that. And that's with a 2 years plan. If there's no stock after 7th July then I'll seriously consider the Gold v3i...after payday of course. We'll see how it goes. I'm in no rush of getting a phone anyway. Mine's still in good working condition.
Oh ya....first semi-final game tonight....Germany vs Italy. Not sure if I can keep my eyes open. If not, I'll just have to come home and catch the replay tomorrow.

How in the world did we lose!!!!
Oh man.....lost a game yesterday....3-2. It's a game that we SHOULD NEVER have lost. Why? First and foremost,we were playing against a lousy team. I know 3 of them personally....my NIE PE classmates.....(Azuan, Sheikh and Ibrahim).
How can our team lose.....we just had an off day. The ground was hard and bumpy. Damn it. We played at Tanjong Katong School at 3pm. I'm just so disappointed. A bit "malu" also....to lose to them. If Ibrahim can play for the MOE team I don't see a reason why Neelan and myself can't play in the team as well. After all, from what I see....there's nothing that Neelan or myself can't do better than what he did. Tough luck....
It must be because of the 3 "new" players. First goal was because of him. They knew that he could not play and sent the ball over the right back. Then came Ow, flapping and totally missed the ball. Up comes the left winger and easily heads the ball. I could have had a go at clearing but it just bounced over me. Maybe I could have reacted quicker.
Second goal...better still...they had a counter attack....I was the only defender left. I closed him down and he suddenly had a go.....the ball lobbed Neelan (he was the goalie). If I had asked him to do that 10 times....all 10 wouldn't have gone in. It's just something that would happen once in a million try. Rotten luck....
Third goal.....another counter....I told Ow to cover me as I went up for a bit. And he let the striker run as they sent a through ball. Neelan came out his line and kicked the ball. By the time, I was already running back. And instead of Ow covering the other striker who had run forward to support, he followed ME! What in the world was he doing!!! Why follow me? I'm not the opponent....!!! Pissed me off.....but what can I say...oh well. Unlucky.
Just looking forward to this Saturday's MOE futsal tournament. Hopefully can win at least $100. He he....
Hmm....by the way, Wawan said he's in Singapore. He should have contacted me. Waited for him to contact me since yesterday. Still never contact me. He must be busy with business and stuff. Oh well...he'll contact me soon I'm sure.

Home early AGAIN!!
Woohoo!!! Home early again!!! Finally, one more day before the weekend. Sometimes I do kind of feel guilty going home sooo early. Then again, I'm a 'trainee' just once in a lifetime. All the staying back till late should be left once I "graduate". Anyway, what's the point of staying back when I've got NOTHING to do there. Might as well come home and zzzzz.
Monday's a public holiday. One more rest day. Good stuff!! I should be catching a preview of Superman Returns tomorrow. 8.30pm show I think...or could it be 8.00pm? Got to check what time it starts. Anyway, it's a short day tomorrow. Now it's time for makan and "body maintenance".....

Slowly but surely.....
3rd Day of practicum 1. Still getting by....talking a bit more to the other teachers. I'm still wondering why I have not been issued a laptop. Hullo....it's already Day 3. I'm still struggling with the journal...there's just so much to write. And frankly, I doubt the supervisor's going to read a single line of what I'm going to write. There's like 150 of us and if each person records 1 daily reflection, 1 weekly reflection etc etc, he's going to have thousands of pieces of rubbish to read. As long as there's legible words written on the worksheet, it should be fine.
Jason SMSed us the team website earlier on (www.freewebs.com/braddellboyzfc/). Unbelievable....the number of spelling errors....ggeeeezzz!!! Someone's got to do something about it. Get him a spell check.
It's going to be an excellent World Cup this year. Final 8 will be Germany vs Argentina, England vs Portugal, Brazil vs France and Ukraine vs Italy. Being a Germany fan, I sure hope they'll win it this time round. After all, with my ALL TIME FAVORITE PLAYER at the helm (Jurgen Klinsmann), I'm quietly confident that he's going to steer Deutschland to the World Cup. Anyway, I'm getting sleepy....missed my afternoon nap. He he!

My Very First Blog
Wow......26 years and this is the first time I'm "blogging". Oh well, there's always a first time for everything...
27 June 2006 - 2nd Day at Woodlands Sec Sch. Still getting accustomed to the school environment...and getting up early after 2 months of holiday. Not forgetting the late World Cup 2nd round games. Emm.....I'm supposed to observe the "experience" teachers but so far...not much of observation. Oh well, I'm not complaining.....that leaves me with a bit more free time to chill...hehe. One thing though....they really should have assigned a laptop to me. At least I can "act" busy.....
0800hrs - 1000hrs: Nothing much. There was a NAPFA retest for those who failed or didn't clear it last semester. Those who passed? Allowed to play "Street Bandy".....in fact I have no idea what the difference between street bandy and floorball is....maybe it's the same.
Oh ya.....I still haven't visit Jaedon (surgery on his ankle). Wonder how his ankle's holding up....better I hope. And I still have to take my replica jersey from Neelan....and that means money. I'm broke this month. At least getting some money for IPPT in a couple of days. That should help tide me over for a week or so.
Oh well, that's all for now...getting hungry. Laterz.
